The Sanibel Candle Company is the first store of its kind in Southwest Florida. We are a candle making experience that allows guest to bring home a little piece of Sanibel and Captiva Island, with scents that bring you back to the Fort Myers area no matter where you are in the world. We are excited to bring you an experience that we hope will be a highlight of your visit to Ft. Myers.
In January of 2023, we were in search for a new home. We, like many of the businesses on Sanibel Island and Captiva Island, were displaced after hurricane Ian devestated the area. Sand Castle Gifts and Gourmet was just about to celebrate its 50th year on the island and as we were preparing to open the sister store, Sanibel Candle Company, the storm made land fall and the stores as we knew them were no longer.
It left so many without the businesses they had poured their hearts into over the years. With it came uncertainty and the future of our stores were put on hold. We transitioned to ecommerce and with the support from the community, we were able to stay in business.
We are happy to announce, that after a long search for a new home, we are coming to Ft. Myers! We will officially open Sanibel Candle Company on March 10th at the Bell Tower Shops. As we wait for Sanibel to recover from the devastation caused by Ian, we will welcome guests from all over in one of Ft. Myers more popular shopping areas.
We are eager to provide an entertaining candle making experience for all that visit Sanibel Candle Company. You, as our guest, will get to customize your own fragrance and candle to take home to remember your time visiting Southwest Florida.
We call it an experience because it goes well beyond a simple candle-making class. As soon as you enter, one of our Scent Specialists will be there to guide you, step-by-step, through the process of creating your very own scent. We believe that the process is just as important as the final product, and we want each visit to be one that you will remember.
They say that smell is the quickest memory inducer. It is why so many people love the smell of freshly cut grass, the ocean air, or your some of your favorite dishes. We are instantly taken back to a time or place that is directly associated to the different scents. That is what makes our candles unique. Our scents allow for our guests to take home the smells of the island and you are just a match away from being able to transport yourself right back to your vacation and time spent on Sanibel. Our Scent Specialists will create an experience unique to each guest that walk through the door. When you come to the candle bar, we want your visit to our shop to be one to remember, and our specialists will make sure that you are enjoying each step of the experience, while learning a little something about the candle making process. We’ll work with you to create a scented product that is as basic or customized as you’d like for your business, wedding party, special occasion, etc. From unique jars, to branded labels and more, if you can dream it, we can create it!
This candle making experience is perfect for a girls’ night out, bachelorette party, birthday party, family gathering, or just friends that are looking for a good time. We love a good time, and what better way to celebrate your friends and family than a candle making experience at Sanibel Candle Company. We started this journey back in May of 2022. With just weeks to go until we had our big grand opening on Sanibel Island, life happened and the storm took everything that we worked hard to build. Now, as we close in on our grand opening of the Sanibel Candle Company in March, we are more excited than ever to welcome all of you. We hope to see you very soon!
